The Eighth Winner of the Milk Bowl Memories Contest Announced
Thunder Road has announced this week’s (Wednesday, May 30) winner in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest as
Charlotte Fadden of North Haverhill, NH. Charlotte is the wife of the late Stanley “Stub” Fadden, a two-time Milk Bowl winner (1970 and 1979) and a legendary stock car driver in the Northeast. Stub and Charlotte’s grandson Travis Fadden is currently a part-time competitor on the American Canadian Tour, while their granddaughter Abby Fadden recently welcomed a son, Landyn, with 2011 Thunder Road Tiger Sportsmen Champion, Derrick O’Donnell. Charlotte is also eighth winner of a pair of tickets to the 50th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl scheduled for Sunday, September 30.
Charlotte’s memories are of the 1970 and 1979 Milk Bowl both won by Stub:
“In 1970, Chet Wood won the 1st and 3rd segments and Moe Dubois won the 2nd segment. But overall Stub won the Milk Bowl in his 1964 Dodge. (I also remember all the engines that blew in that Dodge). Chet Wood also won the time trials with a 14.38.
In 1979, Dick McCabe won the time trial with a 14.61. Beaver Dragon won the 1st segment, while Gilles Lussier won the 2nd segment. The 3rd segment was rained out. Stub won the overall Milk Bowl in his Chevrolet. I missed this race as I was in Hitchcock Hospital having back surgery.
In the 70’s Stub was the Racing Grand Father, Flying Fire Chief, Senior Mod, and Mr. Consistency (per writers).”
The ninth of 20 winners in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest will be announced next Wednesday, June 6. That winner will receive another pair of Milk Bowl tickets. All 20 ticket winners from now until Wednesday, August 22 will then be eligible for two (2) season passes for the 2013 season at Thunder Road. That winner will be decided based on a poll on the Thunder Road website between the 20 memory winners.
