The Seventh Winner of the Milk Bowl Memories Contest Announced
Thunder Road has announced this week’s (Wednesday, May 23) winner in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest as Thomas Peck of Waterbury, VT. Peck is the seventh winner of a pair of tickets to the 50th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl scheduled for Sunday, September 30.
Peck’s memory is from the 2011 Milk Bowl (won by Brian Hoar) and he was 15 years old at the time: “I attended my first Milk Bowl in 2005, which was also my first season going to all the races all season long. I attended with my dad and my brother, which was the group I went with all season long also. I was eight years old. No, my favorite driver didn’t win, but he qualified on the pole. I have been to all the Milk Bowls since my first in 2005, so I have been to seven Milk Bowls. I have had so many Milk Bowl memories it is hard to choose from, because the Milk Bowl is always the best race of the year. So I picked two memories. My first memory is last year’s Milk Bowl in 2011, when Nick Sweet and Brian Hoar tied for first, but Brian Hoar won because he finished first in the third heat to win with the tie breaker. It was one of the best Milk Bowl finishes I have ever seen. My second favorite is 2009, the 50th season at Thunder Road, when it was the last lap and there was a big pile up in turn four, and Scott Payea hit the wall and drove up it and then flew right back off from it and the whole body of his car almost came off. These are my two favorite memories and I am looking forward to the 2012 season to make more memorable moments at the high banks of Thunder Road. ”
The eighth of 20 winners in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest will be announced next Wednesday, May 30. That winner will receive another pair of Milk Bowl tickets. All 20 ticket winners from now until Wednesday, August 22 will then be eligible for two (2) season passes for the 2013 season at Thunder Road. That winner will be decided based on a poll on the Thunder Road website between the 20 memory winners. Last Updated Wednesday, May 23 2012 @ 12:03 PM EDT; 691 Hits
