The Sixth Winner of the Milk Bowl Memories Contest Announced
Thunder Road has announced this week’s (Wednesday, May 16) winner in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest as Peter Jones of Randolph, Vermont. Jones is the sixth winner of a pair of tickets to the 50th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl scheduled for Sunday, September 30.
Jones’ memory is from the 2001 Milk Bowl (won by Dwayne Lanphear) and he was 52 years old at the time: “I have been going to Thunder Road since the day it opened. I was 13 years old and went with my next door neighbor. I have seen almost all of the Milk Bowls. Chet Wood was my favorite driver and in 1970 he set a track record for the time trials for the Milk Bowl. He never won many races but it was so exciting to see him win. One night after the races I went to Gilles Diner in Barre and Chet was in there. I got to sit with him. It was so thrilling for me. My favorite Milk Bowl was in 2001 when Pete Fecteau set a track record for the Milk Bowl. Pete won 2 of the 3 segments. It was the closest Milk Bowl I’ve ever seen. Dwayne Lanphear won.”
The seventh of 20 winners in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest will be announced next Wednesday, May 23. That winner will receive another pair of Milk Bowl tickets. All 20 ticket winners from now until Wednesday, August 22 will then be eligible for two (2) season passes for the 2013 season at Thunder Road. That winner will be decided based on a poll on the Thunder Road website between the 20 memory winners. Last Updated Wednesday, May 16 2012 @ 11:34 AM EDT; 574 Hits
