5th Milk Bowl Memory Contest Winner

The Fifth Winner of the Milk Bowl Memories Contest Announced

Thunder Road has announced this week’s (Wednesday, May 9) winner in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest as Sylvia Sweet of Bradford, Vermont. Sweet is the fifth winner of a pair of tickets to the 50th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl scheduled for Sunday, September 30.

Sweet’s memory is from the 2011 Milk Bowl (won by Brian Hoar) and she was 51 years old at the time: “My most memorable Milk Bowl was last year. My nephew Derrick O’Donnell #68 in the Bond Auto Tigers started in 17th place and won the race and the Championship. My brother (Derrick’s uncle) was on his pit crew until last season, he was battling cancer all during the race season. He was very, very sick but never missed a race. So I was very happy to see Derrick win and lead the points all the way through the season. It will be my most memorable race ever at TR, one I will never forget knowing that my brother was there to see Derrick win. My brother passed away three weeks later at the age of 53.”

The sixth of 20 winners in the Milk Bowl Memories Contest will be announced next Wednesday, May 16. That winner will receive another pair of Milk Bowl tickets. All 20 ticket winners from now until Wednesday, August 22 will then be eligible for two (2) season passes for the 2013 season at Thunder Road. That winner will be decided based on a poll on the Thunder Road website between the 20 memory winners.
