Phil Scott of Montpelier, Vermont was victorious in an exciting Late Model feature where the faces of the front row changed within a matter of seconds due to a caution on lap 24 (of 50), when leader, Pete Fecteau and defending champion, Cris Michaud tangled on the front stretch and were unable to return. Resulting in a new front row for the restart.

Scott took the lead from Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier on lap 27 and never looked back. Trampas Demers of South Burlington made a move on the outside to challenge the lead. Demers was unable to make it stick on the high groove and filed in behind Scott to finish second. Chad Wheeler of Waterbury Center joined the pair in the winners circle. Wheeler's third place finish keeps him atop the point standings.

The multi-time champion was excited to return to victory lane as hard luck has chased the veteran driver in '06. “We caught a big break with Michaud and Fecteau getting together.” The Washington County Senator continued, “Those were some tough restarts but Trampas ran us well. I thought he had me for a bit but I wasn’t about to leave anything out there on the track. I gave it all I had.”

Dave Pembroke from Montpelier narrowly edged Jeffersonville's Joe Becker and John Donahue for his first Late Model victory of the young 2006 season. Becker, the 2003 Thunder Road Late Model Rookie of the Year started on the outside pole along side Colchester's David Chagnon. The pair battled for the several laps before Becker was able to complete the pass and move into the lead.
Pembroke, who won the track's 2000 freshman title, took off after Becker with Donahue in tow. Former Thunder Road Champion, Dave Whitcomb and ageless veteran Joey Laquerre were in the hunt as well. The front group circled the high banked quarter-mile oval for lap after lap in a tight group until the first caution came out on the 22nd lap of the 50-lap main event.
