Meet Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman Shawn Fleury

#31 Supported by the Army National Guard Chevrolet Impala

Hometown: Middlesex, VT

Date of Birth: December 26, 1973

Shawn has a wife Dawn and a son Logan. He is a mechanic at Twin City Subaru.

2009 Season: Shawn finished 12th in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman point standings at Thunder Road. He finished the season with six top tens in 16 starts, including a win on Milk Bowl weekend. Shawn also finished sixth in points on the Tiger Sportsman Tri-State Series after winning the ACE Hardware 100 at Thunder Road.

Did you know Shawn’s…..

….favorite off-season activity is spending time with family and working on his racecar.

….favorite music is country.

…..favorite team sport is football and his favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys. He actually enjoys watching football on TV more than racing on TV.

….favorite food is pizza.

….favorite vacation spot is Florida because he likes the area and it’s warm.

….favorite TV show is Gary Unmarried.

….favorite movie is Days of Thunder.

….favorite magazine is Stock Car Racing.

….most admired racer is Dale Earnhardt Sr.

….favorite racing memory is winning his first Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman Championship in 2005 (he won again in 2006).

If Shawn had to put any other driver in his car it would be Jeff Bousquet. He has seen Jeff do a lot with very little and he knows with good equipment Jeff would do well.

Shawn first began racing in the NAPA Legend Division at Thunder Road in 1991 with the Northeast Kart Club.

Shawn also used to race R/C cars.

The most meaningful career statistic for Shawn is his win column. (Shawn now has 10 wins in Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman competition at Thunder Road)

Shawn enjoys the Tiger Tour because he likes the challenge of new tracks, but his favorite track is still Thunder Road.

Shawn’s advice to somebody thinking about getting into racing is go in with open eyes knowing that you aren’t going to win right off, but if you work hard and drive smart the wins will come.

2010 Plans: Shawn will run both the full season in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman at Thunder Road and the full Bond/WIX Tiger Tour, with his sights set on both championships.
