Thunder Road SpeedBowl
ENTRIES FOR ENDURO CONTINUE TO ROLL INTO THUNDER ROAD OFFICE
The 22nd annual M&M Beverage Enduro at Barre’s Thunder Road Speedbowl is less than five weeks away and the entries continue to flood the Waterbury office. The steady stream of Enduro entries being faxed, dropped off or mailed in has not lost momentum since the rules were released in early June. Travis White of New Haven, VT is the most recent registered driver to the 2006 Enduro field. The 24 year-old driver will compete in the Sunday, July 30th event for the first time.

White attended the 2005 Enduro as a fan to watch his brother Josh race. This year Travis will be behind the wheel and compete alongside his brother in the “People’s Race”. After last year’s Enduro, he was given the car he will drive in July. “I’ve never raced before but I’m really looking forward to racing in the Enduro.”

Like many drivers who enter the event, the car number they pick holds a significant meaning. Many drivers choose the number of their favorite Nextel Cup driver, White falls into that category. The number eight will decorate the 1992 Chevy Corsica that White will race. “I chose the number eight because I am a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. I enjoy the way he races, and I hope I’m as talented behind the wheel as he is.”

Fans wishing to test their racing skills can make the dream a reality by entering the “People’s Race.” If you think driving through construction at rush hour is bad, wait ‘til you see the virtual parking lot of cars at the Enduro. Over 100 cars line up three-wide around the track to take the green flag. The 200-lap event runs caution free requiring drivers to avoid competitors whose car has either expired or crashed on the ¼ mile oval. The winner takes home a prize of two-thousand dollars, as well as serious bragging rights.

Race fans can pick up an entry for the 22nd annual Enduro at the announcers tower at Thunder Road and around the property. Need a copy mailed to you? Contact the Thunder Road office at (802) 244-6964. The Sunday, July 30 M&M Beverage Enduro has a post time of 6:00 pm. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 pm
