SPORTSMAN SERIESí MOTHERS DAY 100 MOVES TO FATHERíS DAY
Following the first two rounds of qualifying, the American-Canadian Tourís (ACT) Sportsman Seriesí Casella Motherís Day 100 was postponed Sunday (June 4) due to rain. The new date is Fatherís Day, Sunday, June 18. The event, the second for the Series and first two at Thunder Road, has been plagued by rain. Early morning showers delayed the start of Sundayís race by some 40 minutes. Thirty-seven Sportsman cars from New York, Vermont and New Hampshire attempted to qualify for the 28 starting spots available in the Casella Motherís Day 100. By the time the rains returned, 24 of the position had been filled. Sportsmen competitors will have one more chance at making the field through a last chance ďBĒ feature. Northfield, Vermontís Chip Grenier, one of the division's young lions will start on the pole when the 100 lapper takes green on June 18. Ray Stearns from East Corinth, VT will start alongside Grenier. Veteran racer, 60+ year old Joey Laquerre from E. Montpelier, VT and defending Thunder Road Sportsman champion, Shawn Fleury from Montpelier will occupy the second row.

Thunder Roadís Late Model, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and PowerShift Warrior divisions were also in action. All-in-all, 109 cars were in the pits.

Spectator rain checks from the Sunday, June 4 race will be honored on Sunday, June 18. Post time will be 1:30 pm.
