Waterbury, VT – Five Star Race Car Bodies has renewed its agreement with the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) to be the “Official Body” of ACT and Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in 2005. Located in Twin Lakes, WI, Five Star has been instrumental in the development of the ABC body concept, which has been adopted by the ACT Late Model Tour in 2005.

The ABC body program was created to establish a universal standard for the bodies used on most Late Model stock cars. With the cooperation of Five Star and other top manufacturers, the aerodynamically identical ABC bodies have quickly become a leading option in many short track series, including ACT.

“We are very excited to be part of ACT, one of the premier touring divisions in North America,” said Five Star Race Car Bodies Sales Manager Dave Kamholtz. “ACT has been a long-time supporter of Five Star Race Car Bodies and the products that we produce. We look forward to putting their great drivers into victory lane this season.”

Drivers that participate in the 2005 program and compete in at least 75% of all ACT Late Model Tour events will be eligible to win one of four discount coupons, including two 100% discount coupons, for an ABC-approved Five Star body (ABC body shown right). One 50% discount coupon will be given at random to a competitor that competes in at least 75% of all Thunder Road Late Model events. Winners will be chosen at random at the annual ACT/Thunder Road Awards Banquet at season’s end.

Morrisville, VT driver Pete Fecteau was one of the recipients of a Five Star coupon last season. “Programs like this are great for local racers, and the surprise of winning a new body is always nice,” said Fecteau, a former ACT Late Model Tour and Thunder Road Champion. “For family-based teams like mine that have limited sponsorship money, it really helps out a lot.”

The ACT Late Model Tour opens its 14th season with the Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 at Lee USA Speedway on Sat./Sun., April 23/24.
