Thunder Road Champion Michaud Enters Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100
Lee, NH – Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl Champion Cris Michaud of Williamstown, VT has entered the Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 at Lee USA Speedway, Sunday, April 24. Michaud’s Merchants Bank Ford Taurus will be one of over 40 Late Model stock cars attempting to qualify for the 33-car starting grid in the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) season opener.

Michaud finished ninth in the New England Dodge Dealers National 150 at Lee USA Speedway last September, overcoming two flat tires during the event. “Lee is a tough track, and it’s going to be hard to make the show with so many cars competing,” said Michaud, a three-time ACT Late Model Tour winner. “I think that if we qualify for the feature, we’ll have a shot at the win, but we’ll have some tough competition to face on the way. ACT has a lot of very good teams, and (former Lee USA champions) Scott Bonney and Ricky Wolf are great drivers, too.”

The Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 features a unique qualifying format that will separate ACT Late Model Tour drivers from Lee USA regulars. Using ACT’s innovative new “plus/minus” handicapping system, all qualified drivers will be grouped together for the main event. “I think it’s going to be an exciting ‘wait-and-see’ situation for the fans and drivers,” commented Michaud. “It should be a lot of fun.”

The Seacoast Late Model Challenge 100 kicks off the ACT Late Model Tour season on Sunday, April 24 at 12:00 noon. A “test and tune” practice day has been scheduled for Saturday, April 23 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm. For more information, call ACT at (802) 244-6963 or visit
