“I’m really pleased that Lenny’s is able to support the drivers with the Hot Shoe Challenge Awards and add to the excitement each week,” said Mark McCarthy, Vice President of Lenny’s Shoe and Apparel. “I’ve been a Thunder Road fan for a long time. It’s such a big part of local sports in Vermont, and our employees look forward to being involved in the awards presentations and meeting the winning drivers each week.”
The “Hot Shoe Challenge” will award Late Model drivers a $150 bonus for taking their first Thunder Road feature win of the season, and $75 if they achieve a second win. Tiger Sportsman drivers will earn $100 and $50 for their first and second wins, respectively, while Street Stock winners will earn bonuses of $50 and $25.
At the end of the season, Lenny’s will present the “Hottest Shoe Award” to the driver that earns the most feature wins in each division. The top Late Model winner will receive $500, with their Tiger Sportsman counterpart earning $250 and the top Street Stocker grabbing $100. Last season, Cooper MacRitchie of Williamstown (right) put together three wins in four events to earn the Late Model “Hottest Shoe Award”. Hinesburg’s Trevor Lyman earned three NAPA Tiger Sportsman wins to claim his division’s prize, while rookie Eric Johnson of Randolph Center took the Allen Lumber Street Stock “Hottest Shoe Award” with four wins.
