Tickets Available For ACT Banquet Of Champions
Waterbury, VT – Orders have already been accepted for the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) 2004 Banquet of Champions. The annual awards ceremony will be held at the Sheraton-Burlington Hotel & Conference Center in Burlington, Vermont on Saturday, January 15, 2005. Over 600 drivers, crew and family members, sponsors, and fans attended the 2004 banquet.

Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT, will collect the fourth ACT Late Model Tour Championship trophy of his career. Honorees also include Thunder Road Speedbowl Champions Cris Michaud (Late Model), Reno Gervais (NAPA Tiger Sportsman), Joe Small (Allen Lumber Street Stock), and Ron Gabaree (PowerShift Junkyard Warrior), and Airborne Raceway Champions Bill Sawyer (Tiger Sportsman), Richie Turner (Renegade), and Ed Doner (Junkyard Warrior). Top rookies from the ACT Late Model Tour and weekly divisions will receive accolades as well.

Special awards, including Sportsmanship and Most Improved Driver laurels will be handed out, along with the prestigious Don MacTavish Award. MacTavish was a likeable young racer from Dover, MA, and earned the National Sportsman Championship in 1966. The award was created in his memory following his tragic death at Daytona International Speedway in 1969, and is given to the person or group that consistently elevates short track stock car racing through high standards of conduct and performance. Past recipients include NASCAR Founder William H.G. “Bill” France, Sr., ACT President Tom Curley, and 2003 winner Smith “Smitty” McKay, long-time owner of the #00 Tiger Sportsman at Thunder Road.
