Thunder Road Announces 2005 Racing Schedule
Barre, VT – Officials have announced the 2005 schedule for Barre, VT’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, an ambitious 19-event card that includes several special events throughout the summer months.

The 7th annual Merchants Bank Freedom Lynx 150 for the ACT Late Model Tour will kick things off at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” on Sunday, May 1st. The Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic 100 will run for the 40th time on Sunday, May 29, four days before the opening Thursday night regular-season events begin with Hannaford Markets/Pelletier Quick Lube Night, June 2nd.

Special events on the 2005 schedule include the WDEV Radio 100 for the NAPA Tiger Sportsman “Tiger Tour” on Thursday, June 23, the Coca-Cola Fireworks on Sunday, July 3, and the double-points Times Argus Mid-Season Championships on Thursday, July 14.

The Barre Homecoming weekend will be complimented by Thunder Road bookends, beginning with the return of the New England Dodge Dealers Vermont Governor’s Cup on Thursday, July 28, a 100-lap event for the Thunder Road Late Models, and ending with the 21st annual M&M Beverage Enduro 200 and Allen Lumber Street Stock Special on Sunday, July 31.

Team racing returns with the popular “Sweepstakes” races for the final Thursday night event on August 25, followed by the ACT Late Model Tour’s Labor Day Classic “Super Series” event on Sunday, September 4. The Labor Day Classic will be a 150-lap, $10,000-to-win event, and is expected to draw Late Model teams from all six New England states and New York, as well as the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The 2005 season will draw to a close on Sunday, October 3 with the 42nd running of the New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl for the ACT Late Model Tour.

Thunder Road is a high-banked, Ľ-mile asphalt oval, located at the end of Fisher Road on Quarry Hill in Barre, VT. 2005 marks Thunder Road’s 46th racing season, and will host the ACT Late Models, NAPA Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks, and PowerShift Junkyard Warriors.
